Glen Douglas Loop

(download)

Lovely bright, if rather cold for the end of April Day.
The Glen Douglas Hills are another set that are pretty quiet. The more glamorous and high Arrochar Alps are a lot busier.
Saw quite a few red deer, a long way out, and a hill fox. Although I could see city foxes where I live most evenings it is still exciting to see a country one.
Started up Beinn Bhreac, walked along to Ben Reoch, don into An tSreang and then up over Tulloch hill and back down to the road.

Some pictures from todays hillwalk.
I went out from the bottom of Loch Lubnaig, up Stank glen and out to Benvane, returning via Ben Ledi.
Mixed weather with some heavy showers but some nice views popping out.

Glen Douglas Trio

A walk round 3 hills in Glen Douglas yesterday: Beinn Bhreac, Ben Rioch & Tullich Hill
Bright an Breezy with surrounding hills tops hidden by haze in the morning. THe day got a bit cloudier and the views became a bit clearer.
Lots of blae berries and quite a few wild flowers hanging on. The hills were riddled with vole tunnels I guess it has been a good year for them.
I love these wee hills because they are so much quieter than the nearby munros. We saw no one all day.
We did see a trio of Red deer between Beinn Bhreac and Ben Rioch and a couple of muddy wallows.
Though we might have seen a Peregrine zooming round a cliff.

Jaw Reservoir Loop

I had a walk up to Jaw and around Cochno hill. A cloudy,  windy day.
Came back to find my car window smashed but nothing taken.

Pretty cloudy, rainy and windy on and off. Most of the time could see little.
A couple of Ravens playing with the breeze
Lots of wee flowers, thyme, tormentil...
Wee snipe jumped out of a ditch

A few Hazel nuts to come back for.

The place where you leave the Loch Sloy road is marked with a wee 'cairn' easy to miss.

Very cloudy with no views at the top by the time I was half way down clouds had risen and tops clear.

About 9 miles.

I've gpxed this walk before: 09-05-24 Ben Vorlich so saved my battery today.

Kilsyth Hills walk

(download)

A short walk round some of the Kilsyth Hills, Cort-ma Law - Kecket Hill circuit
2 and a half hours, about 9km
Quietish, a few walkers out.
Spring not apparent on the hills, little sign of life except for crows and grouse droppings, new shoots not showing yet. But the Campsie Glen burn was surrounded by trees getting their leaves.
